All-American Thirft

Striped Thrifted J. Crew Skirt

Tee – Old Navy; Skirt – J. Crew (thrifted); Sandals – Payless.

This was actually my Memorial Day outfit, but I saved it for Skirt Week. I knew I wanted to share a thrifted skirt, and this skirt is one of my all-time favorite finds. It’s an easy and breezy piece to wear (100% silk will do that). The stripes match, which is how you know any striped item is well made. And the tomato red is perfection. Do I really need more justification?

P.S. Shopsense totally failed at finding an even remotely similar skirt under $100. Boo.

Yesterday, the weather was glorious. Like 60° F and mostly sunny-glory. In January. In the northeast. I was on cloud nine for sure.

It’s no surprise then that my outfit had to match the weather, and my mood. I forgot I had this blazer hanging in my closet, which is silly because it’s one of my favorite thrifted finds ever. The last time I wore it, I challenged myself to wear it with something other than gray. And, well, here we are. In chambray because it might as well be a neutral.

Next time I’ll probably use an iron though.

Last week I finally had the chance to meet Callie, one of my favorite blogger friends, in person! Callie is so sweet and motivated! She was in Philadelphia for a PR conference (you may remember I guest blogged over at her blog Coffee and Cardigans) so it was great to squeeze in a quick chat — and outfit photos of course. So nice to not have to use a tripod!

Sorry if the photos are excessive, but again, so nice to have a photographer! These were taken in the courtyard of City Hall, one of my favorite spots in Center City. I originally got to know Callie through her Thrifter Thursday roundups, so I couldn’t help but wear a couple thrifted pieces! Between the oxford shirt and the oxford pumps, though, this is the preppiest I’ll get — I was actually inspired by this pin from StyleUp.

I tried my best to define my shape with my skinny belt, but overall, I’m not sure if this outfit worked on me. I do love the print on the dress though — little triangles! Still one of my favorite thrifted finds.
