Trailer Thursday: Sicario

For the first time in too long, I’m blogging about a movie I’ve already seen! To be fair, Sicario, starring Emily Blunt, has been out for a few weeks now, but run, don’t walk, to see it.

Warning: Some may find the trailer graphic.

Like many thrillers, the plot here is driven by a MacGuffin, but you’re going through this operation through the eyes of Blunt’s character, Kate. This movie hinges on its performances, and Blunt is excellent. I know her mostly through her comedy work (The Devil Wears Prada,  Sunshine Cleaning, etc.), and didn’t see her in Edge of Tomorrow, but she completely blew me away here. Benicio del Toro also gives a really memorable performance, but I really don’t want to give too much away. Sicario is worth definitely worth seeing, and it should leave you trying to catch your breath.

Hope everyone is enjoying a lazy Sunday!

Love this roundup from my friend Emily breaking down some of the best neighborhoods in Philly.

This will be interesting: Etsy has a new competitor; it goes by the name of Amazon Handmade.

Speaking of… these are the must-try beauty products on Amazon.

Have you ever wondered why people don’t have parties anymore? (P.S. If you want to change that and host your own get-together, I highly recommend my friend Chrystina’s blog.)

I still need to see The Martian, but this list of the best survival movies has some pretty excellent options for a movie night in.

Darci is killing it with her latest blog series, Women Crush(ing It) Wednesday. So much inspiration.

Happy Friday!

So much has happened in the last week and I’m still recovering, but most importantly I finally got my driver’s license and I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday! (Closer to 30 than 19 — insane.) This weekend, I’m heading back to the Bronx to celebrate homecoming so that should be fun too! Anyway, this is what I’ve been reading lately:

How Connie Britton rocks the feminism conversation. (Anyone else excited for Nashville to come back next week?)

Four big lessons from the summer box office.

Are girl squads the new power couple?

Why is it so hard for smart women to find dates?

Love how this tattoo artist is transforming women’s lives.

This is a bummer: salads actually aren’t that healthy (and it’s not just the dressing).
