It’s the most wonderful time of the year: college football season! Sports are a big passion of mine, but there’s nothing like the highs and lows of being a Miami Hurricanes fan.

I didn’t go to a big football school but all’s well that ends well, because I can’t imagine rooting for a school other than Miami. (Side note: former Fordham quarterback and head coach Joe Moorhead is now the head coach at Mississippi State, a Power Five school. It’s, um, not going great.)

This weekend, I’ll actually be back home in South Florida. The main event is my mom’s birthday celebration (hi mom!), but luckily for me, the festivities coincided with FSU week. Florida State-Miami is one of the best football rivalries (seriously, read about it), and one of the most stressful days of the year for me.

I still have vivid memories of Miami’s 16-10 win when I was in middle school, and even more memories of curling up in the fetal position in front of a TV during seven(!!) consecutive meet ups that Miami lost. Suffice to say, my dad and I will be in the stands on Saturday.

I should clarify: this is not the outfit I’ll be wearing Saturday when it’s 90 degrees. When I’m in Philadelphia though, sometimes I want to go out to watch a game without resorting to jeans and a jersey. A vintage wash Miami tee (now almost a decade old) and a corduroy skirt are a fall-friendly pairing, while a denim jacket and glitter sneaks keep it casual and comfortable.

Now, to cross my fingers for some great Miami Hurricanes football.

Fall Classics at United By Blue

Now that the calendar says October(!), fall temperatures are around the corner. My budget is telling me not to stock up on too many cozy pieces, but that hasn’t stopped me from window shopping online browsing through the newest items at a local Philly store, United By Blue. (Hint: the Old City flagship also has an awesome coffee shop space.)

Shop: Moraine Flannel Dress | Rise & Grind Crew Pullover | Birdseye Pom Beanie | Moon Cycle Tee | Himley Waffle Sweater

One of the coolest things about United By Blue is that they remove one pound of trash from oceans or waterways for every item sold. It makes investing in sustainable clothing even better. United By Blue’s whole aesthetic is perfect for nature lovers and explorers. That’s not necessarily me, but I still dig it.

I also love the inherent wearability in all of the clothes at United By Blue. The flannel shirt dress can be dressed up for work and dressed down for weekend brunch. The graphic pullover is ideal for a bagel run on a drizzly fall morning, and we all know I’m a sucker for cool graphic tees. I also firmly believe you can never have too many beanies (I actually own this UBB marled beanie in blue — it’s my warmest hat!). And do I even need to justify a cozy tunic sweater? I didn’t think so.

So shout out to United By Blue for making high-quality, stylish clothes with a mission. These are definitely classics that will find room in your wardrobe for years.

Keep It Simple

We’re in the middle of yet another heat wave here in Philly, because summer just won’t end without a fight. Getting dressed these days is both boring and annoying, so it’s time like this when I grab a swing dress. Swing dresses require minimal contact on the stickiest days, just the way I like it. (Also, a patterned swing dress makes life even easier!)

I love this geometric beaded necklace because it’s simple but still packs a punch of color. The woven bag compliments the shades of purple well, and straw bags are definitely trending. I’ve had this one for a few years, so it isn’t the ubiquitous circle straw bag that’s all over Instagram. No need to follow trends exactly!

To dress up this laid-back look, I added my favorite clogs. Super comfy, and I’m always a fan of the ’70s twist they add to my outfits.

Stay cool!
