Baby, You’re A Firework

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope you all had a great time ringing in 2011 (finally)!! I’m definitely jealous of anyone who attended a swanky affair. New Year’s is normally a pretty quiet and casual event for my family. Our annual tradition has turned into driving up to Delray Beach and spending the evening with family friends. The big excitement this year was that the kids (yes, that still includes me) got to drink sparkling juice cocktail. Oh, and I won a couple card games. I never said I wasn’t cool. Ironically enough, our night didn’t really feature a major fireworks display, unless you count the kind you can buy for ten bucks at Publix and light up in the driveway. And even though my last night of 2010 was pretty low-key, I still managed to wear sequins. That’s practically a NYE requirement.

Sequined Bolero- gifted (vintage); Tank- Dillard’s; Jeans- gifted; Flats- Payless; Cat-eye pendant- Black Market Minerals; Watch- Fossil.

The base of this outfit, the black jeans (or jeggings- I’m not quite sure) and the tank, are pretty casual. My stepgrandmother gave me her vintage bolero, and it added the right amount of pretty to the look. As if that didn’t give off enough sparkle, I threw on this new pendant. I bought it for pretty cheap in this fabulous jewelry and mineral store outside of Orlando. A watch is the perfect accessory to keep your eye on the countdown to midnight, and I love this geometric Fossil one. Finally, my Payless obsession continues. I bought these in Key West this week- they’re so comfy, they didn’t even feel like new! They’re actually from kids’ section too, which makes this purchase even better. I love that the leopard print/glitter combo is toned down by the gray and black. Just slightly.

I couldn’t resist throwing in a picture of my golden retriever, Sammy. He’s quite the handsome devil. And yes, that is my senior picture awkwardly hanging in the background. How did you guys spend New Year’s Eve?
