I remember when I saw Nicole rock a couple quirky pins with a denim jacket, thinking it was so cute but also so not for me. It’s retro in an ’80s and ’90s sort of way, which doesn’t seem to suit me. Then last week I was placing an order on Think Geek and used a code for a free BB-8 pin, and well, I don’t want BB-8 to get lonely on my denim jacket! (Also, can you wear these pins any other way besides on a denim jacket?)
So it turns out these enamel pins are everywhere right now, and you can buy them at mass retailers or Etsy and other small shops. I think my favorite so far is the mermaid from Ann Shen — maybe I could do a whole fantasy vibe? Any ideas, let me know!
I’ve always had a sporty/tomboy/guy’s girl thing going on (she writes while watching the NBA Playoffs), so yes, I’m glad “sporty chic” is still a trend. You can go glam with this, like Lauren from La Petite Fashionista did, but let’s be honest, my own style is pretty laid-back.
Start with a sporty tee and trendy distressed jeans (feel free to cuff them too). Add printed (or glittery!) sneakers for some flair and a dainty necklace for some glam. It’s a fun look for a day in class or running some errands.
I’m not positive when the arrow trend began exactly, but I’ve noticed the motif pop up everywhere, especially on jewelry. I particularly love the PV bracelet (the company supports local artisans in Costa Rica, where my dad’s family is from) and the Modcloth tee with the Fleetwood Mac reference.
