Casual Comfort

Jacket – Gap (thrifted); Tee – JC Penney; Jeans – TJ Maxx; Moccasins – Target (hand-me-down via my mom).

Yesterday, I went out in bare legs and wore sandals for the first time since spring break. Now, I’m back to layers and making derpy faces as my roommate takes my picture in our student lounge. Such is college, I guess, especially in the Northeast.

There’s not much to say about this outfit, except that it’s pretty basic. I do dig the green-purple color combo though, and this thrifted jacket (seen here previously) makes a great layering piece for transitional months. Something comfortable with a bit of color was just what I needed for what I needed to be a productive day around campus (not sure how much I succeeded though).

I think I’m getting frazzled just thinking about next week, because my schedule shifted around a little and I have a lot of things due, including a presentation for Fordham’s Undergraduate Research Symposium. Last semester I wrote a paper for my social media class on budget-conscious fashion bloggers (like myself) and consumerism. Now I finally get to present my work! I’m excited, and it was a pleasure to interview Danielle, Michelle and Callie for my research. Speaking of Callie, I’m linking up at her blog as part of Thrifter Thursday again!

Sunflower Blazer

Blazer – Target (thrifted); Tee – Target (hand-me-down); Jeans – Target; Booties – Charlotte Russe.

Between a) the weather finally finally begin to take a turn for the better (warmer) and b) Callie bringing back the Thrifter Thursday link-up, I knew what I wanted to wear this week.

I bought this blazer from American Thrift in South Florida over winter break, and I’ve been dying to wear it ever since. It’s 100% wool and from one of the earlier Target international designer collections, Paul and Joe.

This week I finally had a chance to venture outside without a coat, and I was more than happy to oblige – and finally wear the blazer. It is so bright and so happy, I didn’t want to have to cover it up with a coat. I also like the details in the buttons – they remind me of sunflowers!

My Favorite Looks of 2012

Happy 2013 (almost)! I know a lot of blogs do style retrospectives, so I thought I’d post some of my favorite outfits of 2012 (though I didn’t have too many photos to pick from!). It’s especially fun to compare what I wore to my style resolutions for 2012 – I didn’t always keep them in mind, but I think I followed through with some of them anyway.

Truffula Trees Are What Everyone Needs

I wore this for an internship interview and just love the individual pieces – this chiffon-like printed top, the silk pencil skirt, the watch, the pumps. Yes, please.

Independence Day

My 4th of July outfit! And summer tan! Again, I like all the classic pieces, especially my sunhat, and I think it was a fun playful look for the holiday. All I needed was a pool to lounge by.

Tie-Dye Blues

The most colorful look of the bunch! If I didn’t have this blog, I’m not even sure this is something I would’ve worn! But I think I’ve grown in confidence – at least when it comes to my wardrobe.

Hawaiian Punch Print

I love this thrifted dress, and I’m glad I was able to find a way to wear it in slightly cooler weather. I think I may need to shop for a new chambray button-down though.

Mostly because my red cords are one of the favorite new pieces in my closet. I’m wearing them now actually! Also leopard and another thrifted piece, my blouse. Love (and super comfy).

Happy New Year! I’ll be celebrating in Disney World Epcot tomorrow – we decided to take a last-minute road trip up to Orlando for the holiday. What does everyone else have planned? Any fabulous sequined outfits?
