Link Love

Happy Monday! Enjoy these reads to start your week!

The World Cup starts this month, and while many (myself included) are looking forward to the soccer matches, the social impact — which is summed up in this one image — should not be ignored.

I don’t watch Girls, but I do love what one of the actresses had to say about how women define success.

Recently discovered: how to be a grown-up in 10 easy steps. Too many of these ring true! (Thanks for the link, Darci!)

I’m actually really liking the kimono jacket trend (not to be confused with those from Japan) and Gurl has 20 kimono  styling tips if you’re looking for inspiration!

Love this: what one blogger learned from posting outfit pictures for a decade.

Statigram recently rebranded itself as Iconosquare, but still includes lots of nifty ways to track your Instagram stats.

Any good reads to share?

Pardon The Interruption

Whoa! Sorry for that unscheduled interupption in posting! My family came to visit for the long weekend (hope everyone enjoyed theirs!) and I completely lost track of time getting ready for them (not to say my house was neat when they came, but you know). Some recent highlights:

  •  seeing a former Florida Marlin pitch a no-hitter against the Phillies
  • watching the Heat take control of the Eastern Conference Finals
  • buying matching elephant tees with my mom at The Gallery
  • finding my bridesmaid’s dress for my bestie’s wedding
  • wearing my new Hunter rain boots on rainy days
  • prepping for a blog collab with Katie and Liz
  • remembering my blogiversary is Sunday!!

What have you all been up to?

Trend to Try: Preppy Preakness Style

Preppy Preakness Style

Shop: Dorothy Perkins hat; Modcloth dress; ASOS necklace; Forever 21 crossbody; Payless wedges.

The Kentucky Derby may have been this past weekend, but that’s only the first leg of the Triple Crown — meaning two more opportunities to dress up in your best derby attire and sip themed cocktails. The Preakness Stakes may take place down in Baltimore, but Philadelphia celebrates it in style too.

The 2nd Annual Preakness at the Piazza for MS will take place this May 17th. In addition to watching the Preakness Stakes on the Piazza’s big screen, there will also be a silent auction, a DJ and of course, Black-Eyed Susan cocktails. The best part? Last year, almost $100,000 was raised for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and it looks like that figure will be surpassed this year.

I’m so excited that I get to attend this year’s event as press! I already have my hat picked out, but I’m still working on the rest of my outfit details. I put together this set for inspiration. I love this color-blocked hat paired with a matching necklace and contrasting teal dress (and it wasn’t until after I put together this look that I realized it almost matched my site’s colors!). A beige crossbody bag and wedges complete the look without distracting from it.

Interested in attending the Preakness at the Piazza? You can still purchase your tickets here! There are group and couple discounts available, and it’s all for a great cause. Hope to see some of you there!
