If my last post stirred your curiosity, Time has an inside look at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

From the Huffington Post, great advice for women everywhere.

Grooveshark is a free music search engine that allows you to build custom playlists. It’s the best thing to come out of the University of Florida since Gatorade.

Is the 3-D trend already dying out? Personally, I hope so.

College Fashion presents looks inspired by Key West. Best when served with Key lime pie.

Video Love

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of Demi Lovato. Her song “Everytime You Lie” was on repeat during our adventures in Orlando.

I know “Cowboy Casanova” came out last fall, but it’s still an infectious country-pop song done only how Carrie Underwood can. Plus, I could watch this video for the wardrobe alone. 1920’s flapper dresses and fedoras with a Southern vibe? Yes please!

Eminem’s hit collaboration with Rihanna “Love the Way You Lie” is an intense look at abusive relationships. The new music video is very well-done. You almost forget that it stars Megan Fox and one of the guys from Lord of the Rings. (Trigger Warning: contains violence and offensive language.)

Girl Crush: Zooey Deschanel

Deschanel in the Aug. 2009 issue of Self Magazine.

As Summer Finn in the indie hit (500) Days of Summer, Zooey Deschanel set many hearts aflutter. It wasn’t until last year that this blue-eyed beauty became instantly recognizable, but Deschanel has actually been acting for the last decade. The Los Angeles native was born into show business: her mother is an actress, her father is a cinematographer, and her older sister Emily stars in the television series Bones.

Deschanel made her film début in 1999, with a small part in the Mumford. (Yeah, I’ve never heard of it either, but it still counts.) Her big break though came the next year in the critically acclaimed movie Almost Famous, in which she played another supporting role. She worked on several more independent projects but she didn’t play a lead role until 2003’s All the Real Girls, which earned her a nomination for That same year Zooey co-starred opposite Will Ferrel in the Christmas hit Elf.

Weird, right?

Afterwards, Deschanel became more of a familiar face, appearing in The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the GalaxyFailure to Launch, Gigantic, and Yes Man, as well as on the television showWeeds and the mini-series Tin Man. Then she reunited with Joseph Gordon-Levitt (a co-star in Manic) and starred in the title role in (500) Days of Summer, last year’s breakout indie hit. (If you haven’t seen it yet, I’m not sure what you’re waiting for.) Thanks to the film’s success, she and Gordon-Levitt are verifiable A-listers.

Deschanel also has a blossoming career as a singer-songwriter. She has contributed to many movie soundtracks, including Elf and Yes Man. Deschanel and fellow singer-songwriter M. Ward form the indie pop duo and they have released two successful albums, Volume One and Volume Two.

Not only is Deschanel talented, she also has a growing reputation as a fashion icon because of her quirky and vintage style. College Fashion did some great inspiration posts on Zooey, which you can see here and here. She’s also one of the new faces of Rimmel London (her campaign is set to debut next month), but that shouldn’t come as a surprise because she’s, you know, gorgeous. Deschanel’s beauty has a freshness to it- she’s not your ordinary starlet.

So what do you think? Are you a fan of Zooey Deschanel?

Yesterday, the fourth season of Mad Men premiered and I finally broke down and started watching the show. This video taught me everything I needed to know about Mad Men in less than five minutes. Did anyone else watch last night?

Are romantic comedies ruining relationships? The Daily Mail says yes.

College Fashion tells us why you should borrow clothing from your mom. I know I do!

A great profile on my favorite pitcher, Josh Johnson. Strasburg who? And yes, I just had to throw in one sports story.

This great video discusses the ill environmental effects of plastic water bottles. Take this as another reminder to invest in a reusable water bottle and filter.

I recently rediscovered Mandy Moore’s cover of Rihanna’s “Umbrella”. Mandy’s version is beautiful and melancholy- definitely worth a listen.

On a completely unrelated note, some girls from South Florida have made a hilarious spoof of Katy Perry’s “California Gurls”.

I know, this week’s link are all over the place! Do you have any links to share?
