Hello! Today I’m starting a new series, where I highlight my favorite places around Philly! First up, BLO/OUT, a blow dry bar with three locations in Philadelphia and the suburbs. I received a complimentary blowout, but all opinions are my own, because who else’s would they be?
I stopped by BLO/OUT’s Washington Square location last Friday evening (they also have a location in Rittenhouse Square and the Willow Grove Mall.) The first thing I noticed was how spacious and organized the salon was. Plus, as soon as I checked in, the receptionist offered me a complimentary drink.
With my white wine, I was relaxed before I even sat down in their super comfy salon chairs. (Seriously, the chairs alone make me feel like a princess.)
I’ve never been to a blowout bar, and most of the time I even skip the blowout after getting my haircut. (Entry-level salary, y’all.) The cool thing though is the entire salon is dedicated to shampooing and styling, no cuts and colors. I choose the Southern-inspired “Savannah” BLO/style, minus the teasing.
Here’s the before picture. Can you tell I’m the laziest with my hair? Sleep > heat styling, always. After a quick shampoo and some root lifting spray (all custom BLO/OUT products, which are also sold at the salon), it was time for BLO/lista to get to work!
I told my BLO/lista Haleigh I wanted to be able to preserve my blowout for a holiday party the next afternoon, and she was really accommodating! She made my curls extra tight so they would relax but still keep their shape for the next day. Haleigh also gave me tips on how best preserve the volume overnight, so that was definitely appreciated!
Here’s the after result! Sure, it’s a little Gone With The Wind, but that was the point so I could really rock the look the next day. For the final look, check out my two previous posts. Needless to say, I loved it!
Thanks for having me, BLO/OUT! Can’t wait for the next time I get to treat myself. And don’t forget to schedule your own appointments (hint: they’re open New Year’s Eve, so you can ring in 2015 in style!).
