Spring is going strong here in Philadelphia: lots of rain, wind and sunshine, sometimes all in the same day. It’s certainly better than snow, but it leaves a girl in a stitch figuring out what to wear each day. So when DUO Boots asked me to join in on a styling challenge, I jumped at the chance to style a pair of ankle boots for day and night. (Really, I did a little jig at my computer.)
DUO Boots offers some really nice sandals and flats, but the weather just isn’t there yet. Plus, basic black ankle boots was a huge hole I was meaning to fill in my closet. I choose the black suede Hana boots and they’re pretty much perfection. Simple, laid-back and, most importantly, commuter-friendly. I am not meant to run to catch my bus in a pair of heels, you know?
I love this outfit for a day exploring the city. It may not be ultra-flattering, but the dress is breezy and comfy and the cargo jacket is perfect for windy days. Of course a crossbody bag is essential, and these ankle boots are actually super comfortable. Plus, they provide an extra bit of warmth, which can make or break your comfort level with the chilly spring temperatures.
For my night outfit, I wanted to do something a little bit different…
Top – H&M (gift, similar); Skirt – Kohl’s (similar); Bag – Target (gift, similar), Ankle Boots – c/o Duo Boots (exact).
I tucked in a billowy, embellished tank into a stretchy cobalt blue pencil skirt, grabbed a metallic crossbody and added a darker lip color and black eyeliner. This is the type of outfit I’d wear on a night out to the casino, which, yes, is something I do occasionally. (You can find me drinking Shirley Temples by the penny slots.) If you’ve ever been to a casino, you know how much walking is involved and that’s why comfortable, yet, stylish shoes are key. Hello, ankle boots.
Oh hey, my skirt and hair match!
Thanks again to DUO Boots for having me participate in this styling challenge. If you’re a shoe lover, I recommend following their Twitter and Instagram accounts for more inspiration. How do you style your favorite pair of ankle boots?
