Fashion Inspiration: Hearst Tower

One outcome of my graduation and move is that my days as a New York City intern are over. Nothing to cry over, but I will certainly remember my three semesters at Hearst, when I got to spend two days a week in the Hearst Tower.

I think it’s one of the most gorgeous buildings in the city, and the perfect inspiration for this somewhat-nostalgic post.

Dress – New Look (shop similar); Earrings – Buckle (shop similar), Clutch – New Look (shop similar); Wedges – Charlotte Russe (shop).

I was inspired by the glass exterior, because how could you not be? Another inspiration: the waterfall in the lobby.

I decided a hi-low dress paired with chandelier earrings would be the best way to capture the gentle cascade of the water and the triangle pattern of the exterior, respectively. The glass is really reflective, so the building often appears a vivid blue like the New York City skies (especially in the spring).

The color palette inside is pretty simple: just beige. I think it’s to have a calming effect on the people who work there. That’s where the envelope clutch (with some gold detail) and sandy-colored studded wedges came into play.

The Hearst Girl is equal parts trendy and chic. I think this outfit reflects that. Trendy because of the hi-low dress and wedges, but the earrings, clutch and colors are classics.

What do you think of this look? Have you ever been to or worked at the Hearst Tower?
